About the Journal
- Panjab University Law Review is a half yearly publication of the Department of Laws, Panjab University, Chandigarh since 1951 having circulation in India and abroad. It is a refereed and a peer reviewed journal.
- This Journal publishes research papers/articles/book reviews/case comments etc., which are duly assessed and reviewed by a panel of experts and is exclusively devoted to the publication of original research papers/articles/reviews/Case Comments of a very high standard. Besides Law, this journal also invites original articles from different fields of Social Sciences like Commerce, Economics, Political Science, Sociology etc.
- The vision of this academic journal is to provide a platform to academicians, professionals and students to express their views in a manner which would be conducive to educating readers about various dimensions of the law as it stands and the law as it should be. Throughout the years, the editorial boards have attempted to maintain the threshold quality while ensuring that the frequency of issues is consistent. The Panjab University Law Review also seeks to sustain and support legal excellence through its continued standards of publication.
- It is worth mentioning that the Department of Laws, Panjab University have seen a steady increase in readership, article submissions, and citations to our published articles. Our reputation and visibility in the academic community continues to broaden, and our editorial board constantly reassesses and revises the editorial process to ensure the most efficient and satisfying experience for both the authors and our worthy readers. It is due to the support of our advisory board, the hard work of our editorial board, and the interest of our readers that we are able to come up with this new issue, and we hope that this tripartite support continues in the future.
- On a final Note, as always, we would like to thank our steadfast Advisory Board as their guidance and support made our journal possible, and we are deeply indebted to them for the time and effort that they put into our journal. Last but not the Least, we give our special thanks to the immense contribution of the Editorial Board who have worked with full dedication and always strives to improve the Panjab University Law Review, thereby continuing its tradition of academic excellence.
Author Guidelines
Before starting with the manuscript for submission the author must read and understand guidelines for the preparation of the manuscript. The submission of manuscript without compliance with the author guidelines or using different format will be rejected by the Editorial Team before being reviewed. The Editorial Team will only accept a manuscript that meets the specified formatting requirements (downloadable at: Template). This template is designed to assist the Author in preparing manuscript as per the specified guidelines.
Manuscript Categories:
- Research Paper/Review Article: 5000 to 6000 words,
- Book Review: Around 2500 words,
- Case Comment: Around 3000 words.
The word limit is inclusive of footnotes.
- Manuscript devoid of any legal phenomenon or approach may be rejected out rightly. Every manuscript must be labeled as: Research Paper/ Review Article, Case Comment or Book Review.
- The Author is required to take note of:
- originality of the theme
- novelty of the subject
- clarity of the idea
- presentation of subject systematically and
- linkage of conclusion with the contents.
- All manuscripts must be accompanied with:
- A covering letter with the name(s) of the author(s), official designation, institution/affiliation, the title of manuscript and complete postal and e-mail address including mobile number and their manuscripts.
- A plagiarism report/ certificate from recognized similarity checking software viz. Urkund or Turnitin. Submissions with plagiarism content of more than 10% or submission having any copyright issues will not be accepted for publication.
- A certificate that the manuscript submitted is a piece of original work and has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
- An abstract of 200-250 words along with 3-5 keywords describing the work and its significance.
- All manuscripts submitted to the journal should be written in English language (British English) only. British spellings throughout the manuscript should be ‘s’ in ‘-ise’, ‘-isation’ words.
- The text of the manuscript submitted should be in MS – word format, Times New Roman style, font size 12, with line spacing of 1.5, one-inch margin on all four sides and justified. All headings should have uniform formatting.
- Footnotes should be in font size 10 and in Times New Roman style. Lengthy and multi- paragraph footnotes should be avoided.
- The name of author/co-author should not be mentioned anywhere in the text of manuscript. Co-authorship is permissible up to 3 authors. Not more than one submission will be accepted from an author whether writing individually or jointly.
- We strictly follow blind peer review process in which the reviewer’s name is withheld from the author and, the author’s name from the reviewer. Therefore, the author’s name or affiliation or any other identifying information should be removed from the manuscript.
- The bibliographic details of all works cited in the manuscript must be given separately. References and citations should be complete in all respects and arranged in alphabetical order. References should be mentioned in the end of paper and in the format given in Annexure A. Citations of the law related works are to be given as per the format of bluebook 19th edition.
- Tables, Graphs, Figures, if any should be numbered consecutively. The title of the table should appear above the table and sources at the bottom of the table/graph/figures.
- Only works that have not been published earlier or which are not being considered for publications elsewhere will be entertained.
- Mere submission of contribution shall not confer any claim for publication. The Editorial Board reserves all rights concerning the publication of the submissions and their decision shall be final. The Board’s decision as regards the interpretation of guidelines or any other matter related to publication shall be final.
- Once published, Copyright over the manuscript shall vest with Panjab University Law Review.

- The contributors can track the status of their manuscript through the online tracking system.
17. Contributors will be charged fee of Rs. 500/- for published copy of the journal and free copy of e-paper will be provided.
