The Fundamental Duties compel all individuals to respect India's national symbols, love its legacy, preserve its diverse culture, and contribute to its preservation. All Indians must also cultivate a spirit of brotherhood, protect the environment and public property, cultivate scientific temperament, avoid violence, and pursue excellence in all fields.
